What works for me is having a goal with a "face" .. which means there is a powerful image that engages as many senses as possible.. so that when I'm challenged by a temptation to eat crap or not exercise, I can call upon the emotionally powerful image or "face" to keep my focus.. how do you know your goal has a "face"? when you really think of your goal, does it MOVE you? Does your heart beat faster? Do your eyes mist up? Give your goal a "face".. a plan and a deadline.. then talk about it!
Play the "I'm just gonna" mind game with yourself! There's something about breaking seemingly big tasks into small bites and then giving myself permission to stop that gives me power to push through... sometimes, the bigger the task the smaller the bites!
