Visual Encouragement Helps

I have found that using a visual reminder is a great source of encouragement. One of the easiest I have found that really works for me is using a calendar and stickers on it.

I have a wall calendar, and found lots of small stickers that will fit in the squares. I looked to f...

Mark those pounds lost to keep motivating yourself

I have now made a paper clip chain from brightly colored paper clips. There is one clip for each pound I have lost. I have it hanging in my office. It is a great reminder of how far I have come (30 clips), and encourages me when I start to dream about eating something just because it sounds great...

Holiday Eating

With Thanksgiving the start of the "Holidays", here is what I am doing. For the celebration meals I get to eat every item that I really love. However, each portion is smaller than I used to take. I take longer to eat, savoring each mouthful, and there are no seconds (unless it is vegetables). ...

This did not work

Thought I might try a "fake" chocolate pudding. Used greek yogurt, splenda and cocoa powder. The consistency looked great, but it did NOT taste anything remotely like pudding. OMRON HJ-112 Digital Pocket Pedometer

This is a digital pedometer that you can actually carry in your purse or pocket and not have to clip on. Unlike my old pedometer than clicked all the time and people could hear it even if I had it under my shirt, this one is silent. I find it is really good and worth the money.

Mark your success

I bought a piece of ribbon 60 inches long. It hangs by my door, unrolled to the length of the number of total inches I have lost so far. I keep unrolling it as I lose more inches. You could write on it, but it is a great visual of how much you have accomplished. It helps focus on what you have do...

Dry Roasted Edamame

Seapoint Farms puts out two types of dry roasted edamame that are wonderful. I especially like the wasabi flavored. This helps increase the daily protein with a minimum of fat and sodium. This is a win-win product as far as I am concerned.

Appliance cords

Often the removeable cords to kitchen appliances are similar but not interchangeable. I label each one with duct tape and write on it what appliance it goes with. Makes life much easier.
