Never "give in"...

It was Winston Churchill who gave a speech back in the 40s to never give in! I just looked it up so I wouldn't misquote him...

“Never give in, never give in, never; never; never; never - in nothing, great or small, large or petty - never give in except to convictions of honor and good sense”

What if Churchill had "given in" during WWII???

Nutritional Information with Product Pictures, Wegmans.com

Even if you don't have the Wegmans grocery chain in your city, their web site can be a valuable resource. When I'm searching for nutritional information on calorie.about.com or fatsecret or even here, it can be difficult for me to know if this is exactly the item I'm eating. At Wegmans.com, they have a picture of the product, with a description and full nutritional information, for every product I've searched so far. It's an awesome tool!

Almonds and Pistachios

A handful of nuts is healthy..what's a handful? About 23 nuts. Eat in moderation and continue to eat 4 walnuts per day as the oils are good for your heart.

I can, but I choose not to

This is what I say to my son when he reminds me that I "can't have" something that doesn't fit with my diet. I tell him, I can. I choose not to. Put that way, dieting stops being deprivation and sacrifice and becomes a powerful choice I make for my own sake.

Change Your Mind With Voice Affirmations

One of my secrets to success is that I change my negative thoughts by using voice affirmations. What I do is record my affirmations on my smart phone or hand held recorder. I plug in my ear phones and listen to them when I start to notice my inner thoughts are negative. I make these recordings after I have had some sort of epiphany about myself and am alone to think it out and record. These affirmations change my thoughts to what I want them to be!
