I always either DVR my favorite shows or watch them on Demand (my cable network gives us this function.) This way, when I want to exercise on the tredamill I always have what to concentrate on so it doesn't become too boring. I no longer EVER watch TV on the couch now that I have begun doing this!!! Always on the treadmill, even if it's just for a very light walk.
Carbs are awesome & really important... especially in the morning. Carbs are what our body uses for immediate energy. They rev up our metabolism & give us the energy we need to get through the day. In the evening WE DON'T need them. Our body is just preparing for sleep. Cut out the carbs completely at night... & when you eat your carbs make sure to eat them with a little bit of healthy fat!
OMG!!! These are the BEST snack ever! Same nutritional content as plain roasted almonds, but rolled in cocoa sweetened with splenda. Whenever I have a craving for something sweet or chocolatey this is where I turn! YUM! Thank you Emerald!!!
Hang a picture of it in your kitchen!!! When you are reaching for something you probably shouldn't, look at that dress (bathing suit, shirt, sweater, etc....) & make a healthier choice. Maybe if you're really good you can get the awesome shoes to go with it!!!
If you don't (or can't) own a dog... volunteer at a local shelter to walk the dogs there! The dogs are always SO happy when they get a chance to get outside for some exercise & fresh air. They are never too tired to walk (like some human walking buddies) & you are getting great exercise while doing something you can feel good about!! It's hard to say you don't feel like a walk when you know those dogs are counting on you!
Often people mistake hunger for thirst. When you crave a snack, but know you shouldn't really be hungry yet, have a drink first! Water, tea, or even a low calorie hot cocoa... Sometimes this can ward off a "snack-attack." Works for me!
I find that if I go much longer than three hours in between meals (or snacks) I am much more likely to overeat at my next one. Grab a fruit, or some baby carrots with hummus, to stave off hunger & stay in control of your food choices at the next meal.
