Spread out that snack

Sometimes I just have to have that sweet candy, especially the seasonal - Spice drops, candy corn, jelly beans, mini chocolate eggs, etc. I put a serving in a container and leave it on the kitchen counter and allow myself just one piece each time I go to the kitchen. This way I know I really want it rather than eating it mindlessly, plus I burn a couple calories before I eat it.
This also works with M-n-M's; skittles, almonds, anything that has smaller pieces.

Pumpkin lights - no candles!!!

While decorating for the Girl Scout Halloween party today, one of the leaders shared an Awesome idea. She uses those push lights (as seen on tv - those battery operated lights they sell to use in closets and such) inside her jack o lanterns instead of candles. They are much brighter than other things and no flames to worry about!!!

Roll towels when putting in linen closet

Instead of folding towels, roll them. They actually stack better and take up less room. Then, when someone wants the towel at the bottom of the pile, they whole pile doesn't come out either!

Fitness Tracker - Mileage Tracker

Just in the last couple of weeks, I realized what a great feature the mileage tracker on the fitness page is. I have had it turned off, but with the 5k training program, turned it on. Before, I would calculate my miles per hour when logging my walking and such. The mileage tracker does it automatically for you. So much faster and easier!!! I LOVE it!!! It also accumulates your mileage for you so you can see what you have actually done besides the calories burned.

Visit your local thrift store for Mud Run clothing

I am getting ready to do my first Mud Run, a type of race that is becoming more popular. I have been going to my local thrift store to search out shoes and clothing. Since I know that the items will be tossed once the race is over I am not feeling guilty about buying 'special' clothing and I am supporting a local business (which also supports our local food pantry).
I found a pair of Nike's for 50 cents!

Blog Titles

When writing a blog, I wait to title it until after it is written. That allows me to make sure my title summarizes the blog appropriately. This way while writing the blog I can be more open rather than just writing about the topic I started with.

Combining weights.

Combine your handweights in different combinations to expand your options. I started with 2 lb, 3 lb, and 5 lb weights (I have since added 10 lb). That gave me 7 lb, 8 lb, and 10 lb combinations - with the ten lb I have even more!

Drink Water before other drinks

I always make sure that I drink my water for the day before allowing myself any 'special' drinks such as flavored carbonated waters. If I start drinking other things, I don't always finish my standard water intake.

Zoom Level on Computer

When going to different pages within Sparkpeople, I adjust the zoom level on my computer for that page. It eliminates some scrolling. For example, on the sparkteams page, I reduce my zoom and that way I can jump back and forth between my teams and huddle without have to scroll down to reach the huddle button. It can save a lot of clicks!!!!
