Off all diabetic meds!!

after many years of taking meds i am now off meds; i did this by working out 30 minutes 5 out of 7 days which started out as simply walking!; increased fruits, water, veggies. really watched the carbs and protein. emoticon emoticon emoticon

Why cravings start!

Overweight means that your insulin doesn't work as well to control glucose levels. When you are insulin resistant ( and normal people can be insulin resistant at times) your body converts every calorie it can into fat, even if you’re dieting. It won't let you burn fat when you exercise....even if you exercise like wild! Too much salt boosts insulin, the hormone that tells the body to store fat. The more insulin, the more fat is stored and the more you gain. When blood sugar drops cravings begin.

Positive Affirmations and Quotes

I have put together a list of positive affirmations and quotes that I found online and I knew would keep me positive. I used a fun font, printed then out on cute paper and cut them into individual strips of paper. I put them in a jar and pull one out, read it multiple times, and add it to my bulletin board dedicated just for this!

Walking in Place at Work

I'm fortunate enough to work at a company that has desks that raise up, so most of the day I stand while I'm at work. Also, I will sometimes march in place while I'm typing away at my computer. Not a huge calorie burner of course, but at least it gets my circulation revved up and I get some extra steps in.

Helping myself to help others

I recently went through a tough time so during that time I stood in front of the mirror each day and shouted I can do it out loud. It really helped boost my positive attitude, and it gave me a serious boost of energy too.

PUMP UP THE JAM!!!

Sometimes I turn on some high energy feel good music and just dance around the house with my kids or even by myself sometimes... The kids love it, and it make great quality time, and you are giving yourself a great calorie burn at the same time. emoticon emoticon

Washing Dishes and Stepping

When I worked and I took a bathroom break I would march in place to increase my steps. It also works if you are standing on your feet like a cashier, nurse, gardener, or other jobs. The steps add up quickly. Even you you march in place brushing your teeth for two minutes, dish washing, cooking you are getting tons of steps in. Just do it. MOVE!!!
