encouraging text reminders

i recently posted the secret about heart360.org. i have found since then that this site can also send you text messages of your choice when you want them. as an example i find my big challenge is to not eat everything in my kitchen at night so now around 8pm i have a text sent to me reminding me to put off raiding the cabinets - it's just not worth it! it helped yesterday - we'll see if it continues

sorting laundry throughout week

I bought one of those laundry baskets with 3 holes. Throughout the week I separate my lights from my darks.The night before I plan on doing laundry I take all the whites and put them in the wash so that the next morning all I have to do is put in detergent and turn on the machine. It's much less painful! :)

setting the timer for washing dishes

motivation is hard to muster for washing dishes.. it always seems like a big deal. to overcome this hurdle i set the kitchen timer for 10 minutes and tell myself i will stop washing dishes after the buzzer goes off - no matter what! i have yet to take the entire time to finish

individual apple sauce cups for baking

i like to buy the small individual cups of applesauce so that if i feel like baking i can just grab 1 that is already measured - or if i want a snack - well that's easy too.

i find when i buy that big jar - it just sits there for months

save time prepping - with pre chopped onions

the market offers tons of pre-prepped foods.. for example, in the freezer section there are chopped onions! i looove pre-chopped onions - i swear it cuts down my cooking at least 45 minutes.. but i have poor knives. even if i didn't - totally worth it!

snapfish photobook

I have noticed that the way I see myself in the mirror is drastically different than in pictures. I con myself out of eating well, because I look just fine when I leave the house. Then, I am shocked when I see a picture of myself. So I just started a photobook on snapfish.com where I will chronicle my weight loss journey. It is helpful so far b/c I can get my daily dose of reality by seeing current pictures of myself - and I can feel hopeful about filling and completing the book.

tricking myself with my sneakers

so on the days when i just do not want to go running, i tell myself that all i really have to do is put on my sneakers and workout clothes.once i have that done, it seems easier to start exercising

it seems that if i think of exercise as smaller sub-tasks instead of this overwhelming chore it is easier to do. putting on sneakers is no difficult task and readies me for running.

getting more veggies

i buy one of those mini veggie platters - it usually comes with 6 different sections of washed and ready to eat veggies with some sort of dip. i make it a goal to eat one of the sections a day - so that gives me 6 servings of veggies throughout the week. no fuss, no muss.

BETTER SLEEP

A couple of years ago I bought my boyfriend this thing you wear on your shoulders or back and it gives you a massage.. I have started incorporating using it for 10 minutes during my bedtime routine and I review my day letting go of all stress.. I have been sleeping much better
