Don't just track: Plan!

Instead of simply logging what you ate over the course of the day, how about using the nutrition tracker to decide what to eat tomorrow. That way you can tweak it until it fits your nutritional goals, and you have something to follow when you pack lunch or fix dinner that fits the whole game plan.

While You Are Walking

Bring a trash bag with you when you go out walking and do two things at once. Beautify yourself and America at the same time. You don't have to clean up everything at once but overtime it will make a difference.

Yikes, people...don't believe every Secret of Success you read.

You know how Spark gives you that fine-print warning that "Secrets of Success are submitted by readers and are NOT scanned or edited for accuracy and truth; please do not use them as a substitute for a physician's advice"? Please, take that to heart. I have read some DOOZY hints on here that just blow my mind. Remember: someone typing it onto Spark People DOESN'T MAKE IT TRUE, HEALTHY OR HELPFUL. Trust a doctor/professional or a medical website for more factual facts.

Make FlyLady's Habit of the Month Your SparkStreak

Every month FlyLady, who's system is free on www.flylady.net, has a monthly habit we work on all month long. It's also posted in the FlyLady Peace is Mine SparkTeam. How do you eat an elephant? One habit (bite) at a time. If you already have the monthly habit down, substitute something else you're working on.

I Love Knowing the Health Benefits of a Given Food

I'm sure there are several, but the website www.whfoods.com lists the health benefits of just about any whole food you can think of. This website goes far beyond just the basic nutrition chart information. I really enjoy knowing that kiwifruit, for instance, are helpful in "Fiber for Blood Sugar Control Plus Cardiovascular and Colon Health." Especially when there's a food that I don't really care for that much (in my case, squash), knowing how it benefits me motivates me to eat it.

Any action is better than no action

Action is a great restorer and builder of confidence. Inaction is not only the result, but the cause, of fear. Perhaps the action you take will be successful; perhaps different actions or adjustments will have to follow. But any action is better than no action at all. ~ Norman Vincent Peale

Room-temp water

Of all of the tips I learned while losing weight, drinking my water at room temp was the most life-changing for me! I had been sipping my cold water all day until I discovered (learned from a seasoned dieter) that if I drink my water at room temp I could gulp it down in seconds. 2 litres of water has been a minimum of water intake for me since then...for the last 2 years...and it is EASY.

I give myself permission to fail, but I NEVER give myself permission to quit!

Christmas Shopping All Year Round

In addition to my Christmas savings, I also buy gifts all year round for Christmas. I have the standard set of people (or service positions) that I buy for or recognize each year - as I think most people do. So if I see a gift in April or August, I buy it and save the time and money in December.

Keeping Track

I lost 4 pounds this week and I think keeping a close track of what I ate helped me to see where to make changes emoticon
