I follow a "diabetes meal plan" which is around 1200 calories, 5 starches a day, 2 fruits a day, 3 dairy per day, 4-5 non-starchy vegetables, and 5 servines from the meat group. I keep a little sheet with me wherever I go to check it off. On my sheet I also have water intake, vitamins, and my daily meds to insure that I've done/taken everything that day. This little sheet is my lifesaver to keep me from worrying in my head, did I have this or that, and did I take this or that.
My breakfast of choice is a Weight Watchers Smart Ones Breakfast Quesadilla. It has egg whites, low-fat cheese, veggies, and turkey bacon in it. Just be prepared to adjust your cooking time to your microwave. I cook mine at 1:38 instead of the 2:00 minute suggested time. They are so filling/good
