My dietitian tells me I can eat whatever I want - not to deprive myself. But she also cautions portion control. What I have learned is that the first two bites of something tastes the best. SO I try to stick to two bites. That way I can still get a taste of it but not overindulge.
1. Make sure you are not hungry.
WHen I am traveling, I make sure I bring a supply of healthy things along - a container of protein powder to add to cereal, oatmeal or as a drink, protein bars (Pure Protein), nuts, and dried fruits to name a few. WHen there are not enough healthy choices available I can turn to these items.
My family other family members do not have a weight issue so like to have "junk" food around. I put all of my healthy food in one cabinet so I do not have to look where their food is and get tempted. This helps me avoid making a bad choice.
DId you know that taking cinnamon every day helps maintain a healthy blood sugar level and improves cholesterol? I take cinnamon tablets, but you can add it to tea, cottage cheese, yogurt etc. But eating cinnamon rolls do not count! LOL
Make sure you are eating enough protein. Protein helps your body heal and stay healthy. It also keeps you feeling full longer. If you find yourself hungry all the time, add more protein to your meals and snacks.
DId you know that eating cherries as a bedtime snack can help you sleep better? I have sleep apnea and had a hard time getting to sleep and staying asleep. Now I eat a few cherries before bed and am sleeping much better. Try it!

Brush your teeth first with a dry toothbrush. This helps keep your gums healthy and removes additional things that brushing with toothpaste doesn't. Then brush with a little dab of toothpaste. Healthy teeth and gums are critical to our good health.
