I have found that many people who are trying to take off weight keep it a secret. Yes, I know this is a secret to success area, but not that kind of secret. When trying to take off weight don't be secretive about it. Let people know. And let them know specific details. If you just tell people you are trying to loose wight, you might here; "You don't need to loose weight.", or, "One little bite won't hurt." Tell them "I am trying to loose weight by cutting out sweets." or something similar.

Closet organization

Each new season I turn all of the seasonal items hangers around to face me. When I take the item off to wear it I put the hanger in the laundry room. Finally when I hang the item back in the closet I face the hanger away from me. At the end of the season I get rid of any clothes that have a hanger facing me because I know I didn't wear them. It also lets me know whether I wore something already so I don't do repeat outfits too often. emoticon

A good Halloween Trick

If you'd rather not have a ton of candy around your house after Halloween, let your child pick out 3 or 4 of their favorite pieces to keep and then tell them to put the rest outside their door when they go to sleep and the switch witch will come get the candy and bring them a present that they have been asking for instead!

Buy Canned Whole Tomatoes and Cut Them in the Can.

These give me more options because I can convert whole tomatoes into cut or diced ones right in the can. Just use two knives and crisscross the knives in the can until the tomatoes are cut to size.

I now understand

that having a snack is often not about eating, but rather about the sensations of tasting something truly delightful without the hassle of preparing it. That's why I have blueberries or blackberries for a snack. Delicious !!!

Remember this is a Journey not a Sprint

It's so easy to have a winner take all attitude when ou first begin; but it's important to remember that the gaining of the weight didn't happen overnight therefore losing it won't happen overnight. Focus on getting healthier, eating right, moving more, doing more. Set mini-goals such as trying to eat your daily serving of fruits and veggies each day. Drinking more water and less soda. Celebrate each small victory. Believe you can do this, Know you WILL do this.Commit to it.

5 A Day, Made Easy

One thing to do, to get your five a day, is to use -those- as your snacks throughout the day. Adding fruits or veggies to your meals, plus a fruit or veggie snack here and there, makes those servings add up. Personally, I enjoy a kiwi or some celery here and there. Add in some baby carrots with a bit of hummus, and it doesn't seem so difficult to get five in anymore!
