CALORIE-FREE FOODS... do exist ;)
Tracking everything can be difficult... Sometimes you just want something and you don't want to run to the computer or enter it in your phone.. You just want to have a little something with the kids maybe or before bed ... What if you didn't have to track it? What if you could take the calories out of your favorite foods?
All you have to do is track it earlier... not an estimate. Instead, make yourself a smoothie, track the full amount and don't drink it all... freeze some for later.
The Truth About Overeating...
you are NOT addicted to food... you are addicted to the way food makes you feel or a memory associated with it.
Often times we eat because we are bored (something to do), to procrastinate (after I eat this), to celebrate (Let them eat cake!), when we are stressed (chocolate), when we are PMSing (really another type of stress), etc.
We eat because we remember... for instance, most people have happy memories associated with cake (birthdays) and chocolate (boxes of candy)...
Saving Money While Eating Healthy

This is what $40 got me at Food Lion. It enough food for my and my hubby for 1 week.
I eat leftovers and the fresh food for my breakfast and lunch.
Re the chicken... We eat what we want and the rest is used to make chicken stock or chicken soup depending on how much is left. I will buy a whole chicken and cut it in pieces myself.. so 3 chickens yield 3 meals of 1 breast each, 2 meals of 2 thighs each (4 for hubby), and one meal of baked "wings"...
Sometimes NOT tracking everything is a good thing...
OK... I'll admit it.... the week before my period I NEED (not want.. NEED) chocolate. I don't over do it, but for 5-7 days, I have to have it.
The problem is that once I go over my max 1300 calories a day, I tend to go waaay over.
Instead of tracking my indulgences this week, I make myself a deal... As long as my food calories stay under 1300, I allow myself up to 1000 calories each cycle that I don't track. My calories are low enough overall that the indulgence is okay.
Spoil yourself at lunch with multiple courses at every meal....
Do not grab the prepackaged 100 calorie packs or granola bars or a can of soup for your lunch. These options may be easy but do not base your diet around them. Ignoring for a moment all the info that says that processed stuff is unhealthy, or at a minimum fresh is better, eating packaging "stuff" is not a lifestyle...it is not maintainable. For instance, can you imagine everyday for the rest of your life eating your lunch out of a packet? That's what eating packaged stuff really boils down to.
I every week, I prepare a bag of lentils. I store them in a tupperware container in the refrigerator... that way I can scoop out a portion whenever I want :)
The Trick to Cleaning Non-stick
When you switch to a lower calorie lifestyle, invariably you end up cooking differently. No doubt non-stick skillets and grill pans figure prominently as well as enamel coated cookware like Le Creuset). Cleaning these pans can be very difficult as things tend to stick the less fat you use in cooking.
To make clean up easy, use your old nail brushes; baby nail brushes work best. The bristles are soft enough that you will not damage your pans but strong enough to clean any debris.
How to Avoid Post-Weight Loss Sag
When you lose weight, especially if you lose weight quickly, you risk getting saggy skin (just watch a finale of the Biggest Loser.. sad but true).
Instead of risking never being able to wear a sleeveless top (let alone a bikini) because of the excess skin, treat your skin right as you lose. Apply a good lotion (cocoa butter or shea butter is best) at least once a day (twice is better).
While you can't change nature (skin will obviously sag as you age), moisturized skin is pliable skin!
Staying Cool in the Summer Heat
When the mercury climbs, you may be tempted to reach for ice creams and smoothies or base your meals on sandwiches and macaroni salad... DON'T DO IT!!!
You are what you eat literally... Do you really want to be fluffy and filled with fat?
Instead of processed ice creams and breads, reach for fresh fruits and vegetables. You will feel the heat less.
Besides, no one ever overate (or got fat) on broccoli or apples
Overeating? Here is how to change your mind...
When we overeat, it is rarely because we are hungry. Instead, we eat to fulfill some other need. Maybe you eat out of boredom or stress, or to comfort yourself... whatever the reason, you are not eating excessive amounts because "the" body needs it... you are over eating because your emotional self does.
Next time you feel the desire to overeat, ask yourself, "What is best for THE body?"
Sometimes changing your mindset is the most important habit :)
