Slim Reality

Slim (not grim) reality is that if I can't control the "stop" button, I don't eat the food. The way I lose weight and feel good is to eat vegetables and lean protein with a healthy fat. Counting calories doesn't work for me if I eat white carbs. I get so hungry. I end up failing and quitting. I eat foods I like such as shrimp, avocados, goat cheese, kale chips, fresh salsa, grilled fish, artichokes, dark chocolate and turkey bacon. If I can eat what satisfies me, I can avoid eating junk.

Food Photo Journal

I've started taking a photo of everything I eat. I review at the end of the day. If you have to have a picture of it, you might think twice before eating it! This is a great way to see what I'm actually eating over the course of a day. I can also snap a quick photo if it's something I don't have time to log. Just log it later. I'm going to do this for a week at least to see if it keeps me mindful of what and how much I'm eating and NOT overeating.

The Pause Button - reset your pace to be mindful

I often ask myself "What was I thinking when I ate that?" Well...I wasn't thinking! I didn't want to think, because then I'd have to be accountable! So...I find taking a deep breath resets my pace. When I get frenzied, I start eating. So breathing is my pause button. When I can control my pace, and not let others or circumstances get me in a rush, I can control my choices. Hurry, rushing and overall busyness make for poor choices and stressful lives. Be a human being, not a human doing!
