Fitting in movement

When I know I have to spend a lot of time reading or beading, I set a timer to every 1/2 hour. When the timer goes off, I have to do jumping jacks or run around the table or practice a karate kata. It gets a little movement in and speeds up blood circulation to my brain so I comprehend better what I'm reading and/beading.

Surviving Jelly Beans

Every year at Easter I have the same problem. My favorite candy is Sweetart Jelly Beans. They are only available at this time of year and so are a blessing and a curse. I can't get them year round so I want to eat as many as I can. This year I bought snack sized zip-top bags, divided up all of the beans I bought into servings and numbered the bag. So far it's working and I'll be getting my cand out of season!

Keeping the red out

When I cook, I often have more tomato paste or canned chipotles than are necessary for the recipe. I have many little, plastic storage containers that are the right size but they absorb the red color from the food. In order to prevent this, I spray the container with a short spray of cooking spray. It makes the container easy to clean and keeps the red out!
