Working out in the comfort of your own home

Finding time to get out to the gym can be tough so having an exercise program that is already designed for you that you can do in your living room is great. I would recommend Power90. It's a workout that you do in the comfort of your own home. And don't worry you won't get bored because Power 90 has a progression of exercises designed over a course of 90 days.

Turn your workout into playtime

I attended great seminar where a guest speaker who has been in the get fit business for over 20 years said something almost too simple, I blew it off at the time but now I so get what she meant.

Remember recess? You got to run, jump rope, flip flop, do whatever you felt was fun. I miss those days as a grown up. So when that Fitness professional shared with the group we should bring back the fun into our fitness routine I thought why not! Getting fit should be fun.

Don't keep doing the same workout every day, you will get bored and eventually quit. Do something different every time. You will enjoy the variety.

Start small

Just choose one thing today to focus on. A positive.. like an extra glass of emoticon water a day or a short walk or take the stairs. Just keep track of one thing for about 2 weeks then add something else

Treadmill backwards!

My chiropractor just gave me an awesome workout for ab muscles that I'd never have thought to try: she told me to set the treadmill to about a 15% incline, get on it facing "the wrong way" (ie, not towards the control panel), and start it moving at a slow speed, increasing gradually, and walk uphill BACKWARDS. This works abs and front-of-body stability muscles. It is SO FUN and really amusing to do while everyone else is using their treadmills the conventional way!

Wear a step counter/pedomet
er

I have found since I began wearing a step counter that I do move around more. I make extra trips, take the long way, etc. Yesterday I made 19,000 steps, including my workout. I think I have finally broken through my plateau and begun moving in the right direction again.
