Substitute for Cocunut Milk

Save a ton of calories over regular coconut milk and even light coconut milk - use Vanilla Almond Milk with a dash of coconut extract added instead!

Depressed...Get up and Do the Opposite!!

Feeling like this emoticon and wanting to hide under the covers? I have been there. One thing that I learned and is helpful is to do the opposite of what the depression wants me to do. Example; rather than stay in bed...Get up and shower. Don't want to eat? Eat a small snack. Don't want to exercise? Walk for 5 minutes. Don't want to socialize, call a friend. Taking little baby steps will help you to get out of the funk! emoticon

Reward for something you control.

Don't reward for lost weight, reward for things that are easily in your control, such as staying in your calorie range, drinking your water all week, doing every planned workout. This way you feel that it's your hard work and dedication getting you the reward, rather than your weight (which sometimes feels rather random.)

Lose vs. Loose: Spelling Bee

Lose:
When I lose 10 pounds I am going to treat myself to a massage.

Loose:
These pants are loose on me now that I've lost 10 pounds.

You do not loose weight. You lose weight.

You're losing weight and you want to brag about it so be sure you are spelling the words correctly.

Face Addiction!

Don't avoid your addictions, face them head on! Whether it is food, alcohol, cigarettes or whatever else. Don't ignore it or avoid it because you will one day come face to face with your addiction and if you haven't learned and practiced the tools of not giving in to it you are setting yourself up for failure.

You've packed your lunch...now don't forget it

If you pack your lunch the night before and put it in the fridge, one way not to forget it the next day as you grab the rest of your stuff is to put your car keys in the lunch bag. Can't drive away without your lunch!

Follow the 10 minute rule

When you don't feel like working out, tell yourself to only do 10 minutes.
After you have exercised for the 10 minutes chances are you will continue on for the whole workout.

Count the Cost

This may be a new way of looking at your purchases. Before you buy something, consider how many hours you have to work in order to earn the money to buy the item. Think about your hourly wage. Decide if the item you want is worth an hour of work or 5 hours of work or more, depending on your salary. Ask yourself if it's worth it to trade a certain number of hours of work for this item that you want to buy.
