I recently went through a funk, and didn't have the spark I'd started with 5 mos. ago. I thought this was a feeling that would return on it's own. THEN, I realized that determination is not a FEELING that comes over me, it's a DECISION! Once I consciously decided to just DO IT, well, here I am!
Take advantage of every aspect of SparkPeople! When I first started, I only worried about tracking my food. Yeah - it helps, but when I started reading articles, blogs, tracking fitness, adding friends, joining SparkTeams, I noticed a big difference! It is not only a tracking system, but an entire support system!
We used to buy bottled water by the case on a weekly basis which not only cost us money but effects the environment. Now we use a Brita filter that's attached to our faucet, I fill up a pitcher to put in the fridge for cold water and we also have water bottles that we fill up every morning. Not only are we saving $20 (or more) a month on bottled water but we're also saving the landfills from 96 (or more) plastic bottles a month!
When you find yourself craving that one thing and you can't find a substitution that fills it.... indulge! I'm not saying do it every day but every once in a while if you can make it fit in your calories then do it. Better a small controlled amount now then risking a binge later
How I avoid over snacking - I drink a glass of water before my snack and 1 more after my snack - it not only helps me feel fuller faster, but it helps me drink my 8 glasses of water a day and helps me avoid overeating.
I take time each day to sit quietly for a few minutes...10 at least, and practice gratitude for any positive conditions, successes, etc. in my life, so that I will not be forced into panic or depression by any perceived failures or shortfalls in moving toward my goals.
