Organization is Key

One thing that helps me keep my portions under control is arranging my plate before I start eating. I go to a lot of big meals, so instead of adding food to my plate and eating along the way, I wait until ALL the food is served to the table and arrange all the food that I want to eat onto my plate. Once again this way I am set on all the food I plan on eating during that meal, and once again less likely to go for seconds.

Eat your Veggies (First)

Something that I found really helps me lots is starting my meals with the veggies. They say you should never go hungry, but now that my body is used to eating at regular times, I'm instinctively hungry at meal times. And I do love veggies, but when I'm hungry I want MOAR REAL FOOD. Even when you're full, it takes a while for that information to reach your brain. So I found that when I finish my vegetables first, I'm less hungry when I reach the main course, and less likely to reach for seconds.

Men's Best Friend


Have you got a dog? Walk your dog. My dog is the best running partner I've ever had. He never stands me up. He's never too tired. And I can be sure he's going to remind me that yes, we are going out!

Veggies

Try and mix fresh vegetables with your meals as much as possible. Always start your meal with the veggies. I find that this way I am much more likely to finish off all the vegetables. Also, I am less hungry when I get to the main dish, and while I still enjoy it, I am less likely to get second helpings :) Cheers!
