For every 25 grams of carbohydrates you eat, you burn 5 calories. For every 11 grams of fat you eat, you burn 5 calories. You burn 1 calorie for every gram of protein you eat. Sparkpeople does not factor in this when it calculates how many calories you need a day. I like to calculate this at the end of the day to know that i burnt more calories than i thought!
You could take smaller bites and you could try taking breaks between each bite, you could even try counting your chews. But what about eating with chopsticks? Not only does this help with eating slower, it also can help with coordination and it's a fun new way to eat your food!
If your like me chocolate is the only thing standing between you and your goal weight. Well fear not! Using Chocolate covered Katies dessert blog i bring you the greatest chocolate treat of all time. 1 tbsp coconut oil (melted), 1 tbsp agave syrup, 2 tbsp unsweetened cocoa powder. mix the ingrediants and freeze about 5 minutes. take out and you have a chocolate dessert thats as rich as a truffle!!!! I do this everytime i have a bad chocolate craving. its so rich i feel better instantly!
Ok this whole dessert is about 50-60 calories, it is HUGE and delicious! Take 1 cup of sugar free jello and mix with 1/4 cup (or just a big spoonful) of fat free plain greek yogurt and stir like crazy! usually it tastes fine like that but if you have a big sweet tooth (like me) just add a bit of splenda, stevia, or other sweetener.
I have heard people use honey, jello packet powder, fresh fruit etc. But have you tried... instant coffee crytals??? they blend right into the yogurt and it tastes delicious!!!! (I'm a coffee fanatic) I usually add a bit of splenda too (I use Greek Gods yogurt which is a bit more bitter) It's an awesome snack or even dessert!
If your like me getting 8 glasses in a day is hard, i always feel like water tastes bitter. So heres what i do: I add coconut extract (I love tropical flavors) but you could try others too! theres peppermint extract, Cherry extract, Almond extract etc. It revs up flavor and gives a bit of nutrients. Add a bit of splenda, truvia, agave etc and you have yourself a nice little treat!
Protein based food is very filling because it is one of the few compounds digested in your stomache, not in your intestines. For an awesome protein snack what i like to do is take a hard boiled egg and cut out the yolk leaving only the white. Then i stuff the white with something yummy! Egg whites are flavorless so you can get pretty creative. I have stuffed them with turkey lunch meat and a drop of mustard but you could also try yogurt, cottage cheese, salsa, there are so many possibilities!!!!
