I find it really helpful to log whatever I eat on my nutrition tracker BEFORE I eat it. It means that when I want a treat, the consequences of that treat are there before my eyes before they are on my hips! It really helps me decide between whether I really want something or whether I'm eating it for the hell of it. It's even easier to do this these days with smartphones and apps.
At the start of the new year, we save all our change (except pennies) we keep them. At Christmas we fill a quart canning jar, add a bow and leave it on the doorstep of a friend needing help. Something I saw watching Glenn Beck. In doing this the season of giving fills my Family's heart.
Before I began SparkPeople I hadn't felt real hunger in years. After I started Sparkpeople I have felt a little hungry (at times) every single day. The first few days I confused "Hunger" with "Dying", it was that unfamiliar and uncomfortable for me. But I am losing weight, so now I am beginning to associate the feeling of hunger with the knowledge that I am choosing a new outcome. Now I'm proud of myself for allowing my tank to get empty before filling it up again, I feel much more in control now.
A friend shared an excellent idea with me-for every mile I walk I put a $1.00 bill in a special cup. This money is ear marked for something special that I want. At the end of Feb. I am going jean shopping! I have not worn jeans in 15 years! To date I have $75.50 in the cup!
I have discovered I'm able to multi-task cleaning and exercising while I clean my house. I clip on my iPod shuffle and practice my Zumba moves while dusting my floors with my swiffer mop. Love getting my heart rate up burning calories and getting my floors clean at the same time!
