Diet and Exercise connection

I have come to the realization that when I exercise regularly I want to eat better and when I stop exercise I start to eat more crap.

So to fix this I have bought a few exercise DVD's so I can work out at the house when I can't get to the gym so it's a win win situation

Healthy Eating for Kids

My youngest (6) is a very picky eater she would eat Mac & Cheese, Grilled Cheese, or PBJ exclusively if I let her. So recently I have been letting her help me in the kitchen, measuring, peeling, stiring etc and now she will eat the things that she helps make including salad !!!!!

Make exercise part of the experience

On Saturday I plan to take my daughter (6) to The Landing (Jacksonville) for the Summer Fun Day. Instead of fighting to find a parking space at The Landing I'm planning on parking further away and walking. That way I've added exercise but haven't taken anything away from the fun day planned

Moderation

I am a true believer in moderation as a method for weight loss, if I want a brownie or some BBQ ribs, then I do. I eat in moderation, and I do some kind of exercise daily. I've lost 20lbs and I've yet to feel deprived

Excuses vs Reasons

Everytime I come up with an Excuse not to do something (Not workout, not make healthy food choices etc) I make myself come up with 3 reason to do it. Usually the Reasons win and I end up making the better decision

Why not

When bad things happen or things don't go the way we want people have a tendency to say "Why me" a better question is Why not me. It keeps things in perspective and stops you from wallowing in self pity

Focus on the Positive

When things get rushed and I can't get to the gym or I grab the wrong kinds of food. I make myself stop and breathe and say to myself "OK, positive thoughts" then I focus on the positives. Example - I walked at lunch, or I passed on the cake or I will walk around the soccer field
