Reduced guilt yogurt

Love fruit yogurt (greek natural) but avoid it due to the sugar content? Can't quite hack straight plain yogurt? Blend them together in equal portions! Not only do you reduce your sugar intake, but you now have another serving to enjoy the next day.

Easy flavored coffee

When cool weather rolls around, I tend to crave flavored coffees.
I like adding spices (such as pumpkin pie spice, cinnamon, or nutmeg), cocoa powder, and natural vanilla and/or almond extracts to create my own little flavors right in my kitchen without having to use caloric or artificial chemical-laden coffee syrups.
The trick is to add your flavorings to the grounds BEFORE brewing so that they brew with the grounds.

One step wonder with foil

Even though I love to cook, sometimes (ok... lots of times) I just don't have the time. I find that if I seal boneless skinless chicken breasts in individual foil packets with ingredients such as garlic, onion, vegetables, and spices and bake it at 425 for 30-35 minutes that the chicken always turns out moist and flavorful with lots of juices. I place the packets on a baking sheet for easy cleanup, and if there are leftovers, they are already wrapped and ready to go into the fridge!

Peanut Butter trick

Love peanut butter? Then you'll know how a serving as a snack/dip doesn't seem like much. I found that if I microwave 1 Tbsp of natural peanut butter for 30 seconds, the warmth thins out the consistency and makes it seem more like 2 Tbsp, but with half the fat and cals. It lasts much longer for dipping with apples, celery, pears, bananas... sometimes I even toss in 1 tsp of mini chocolate chips for an extra special treat!

Putting it into perspective

When I start to lose motivation during a workout, I try to think of what soldiers have to endure during basic training and special forces training. If they can make it through that, I can certainly make it through the last set of whatever it is I'm doing!

Healthier sweetener for Coffee

I use 100% pure Maple Syrup (not the fake stuff!) to sweeten my coffee. It is loaded with Manganese and Zinc, and I use far less of it than regular sugar. The body knows how to digest and process this naturally occuring sugar, unlike processed sugars.
