Frozen Dinners

When I cook meals, I make enough for at least two extra portions (and sometimes more). I have lunch for work the next day. I then portion the remaining leftovers into individual servings and freeze them. When frozen, I remove from the container and seal them with my food saver. All I need to do is grab one out of the freezer for a quick lunch or dinner. This saves money because I always have something available to take for lunch and I eliminate waste because we're using all the food.

Divide and Conquer

When you have to open a can or package of something but only need to use a small amount, divide up the rest and pre-package it for next time.

For example, I generally use 1/4 C of canned pumpkin but there are 7- 1/4 C servings in a can. I measured out the rest of the can in 1/4 C servings and froze them on a cookie sheet covered w/ wax paper. When frozen I put them in marked baggies and put them back in the freezer. Next time I can just grab a baggie and go without wasting anything.

Eating Pizza

My daughter ordered Pizza and all the pies looked so lovely. I cut a sliver off every piece and ate it with a fork while holding a granddaughter. So I got to sample all four kinds. Took longer to eat, I didn't feel deprived and didn't over eat!

Cleaning Microwave

If you want to clean your microwave the easy way, just get a washcloth wet and put it on 1 minute. Let it sit in the microwave until it gets cool. Then just wipe it clean.

Focus on People.

Too often, food takes center stage at our holiday gatherings. Instead, focus on your loved ones, activities and other traditions that make the holidays meaningful.
