In the past, I have always found it hard to stay motivated. Now, my motivator is a new hairstyle. I saw a photo of one that I would love to have but might look better if I weigh less. Any time I think of how much I hate exercising, I then think of how much I would love to have that hairstyle and I'm back to exercising. I think this would also work using a new article of clothing, jewellery or anything else that is loved as a motivator.
A year ago I made the decision to stop driving and take the bus or walk when necessary. As a result, I save money in gas and my spending has lowered because I find it too inconvenient to wait on a bus to grab lunch or walk through the rain to do a "little" shopping. Also, I do one weekly shopping with my husband and if there is anything that I forgot to put on the list, I now simply work around it or do without rather than hop in the car and drive a couple of times a week to shop.
My husband and I live in the UK where the monetary system is in pounds sterling. For every pound of weight we lose, we put an equal amount of money (pounds) into a coffee can. At the end of the month, we use the money to treat ourselves to whatever we want.
