Patriotic motivation

So here is the link to hear my son Nicholas as he sang the National Anthem at the Cincinnati Reds Baseball game! We are over the moon proud of him! So perfect for memorial day & he made it all about those who gave the ultimate sacrifice! How can this not motivate us? I hope the link works!

Water while out walking

I was finding that my water was getting warmer while out walking on warm summer days. A trick that I've been using is this; fill your water bottle only half full, lay it on it's side in the freezer until completely frozen. Then add room temperature water to it to fill the bottle. This solves the problem of how to get "ice" into our water bottles, & it stays cold through my entire walk, & then some!! emoticon

A MUCH simpler way to "weigh & measure" some foods!!

If you have a "gram/oz" scale here is a time saving tip for you. Today I had an English Muffin with cream cheese & jam. To measure cream cheese, I place the entire pack of it on my scale before using & reset the scale to zero, then I re-measure it after I use the amount I want. The scale read "minus 18" grams, thus showing me that I used 18 grams on my muffin! You can do this with jam, sour cream, cottage cheese...or any food that is messy when trying to calculate your calories!!

Free lemonade when you dine out???

Since I must have both sugar free & caffeine free cold drinks, & most restaurants cannot accommodate this need, I simply ask for water with plain lemon on the side, pour in some equal or splenda, & wa-laa...sugar-free lemonade courtesy of the restaurant! emoticon

USE the FOOD TRACKER...the BEST tool!!!

I use the food tracker all day, every day. BEFORE something goes in my mouth, I check the nutritional value. WHILE I am eating I continue the education with portion control. AFTER I eat I enter the carefully weighed & measured values of my meal. I thought I was nutritionally educated, but I'm astounded as to the education I've received by using this tool!! I've found a brand new way of eating, plus I'm losing weight & getting healthier in the process!

Keep moving!

Go that extra few minutes with EVERY activity, whether it be drinking water, walking in the grocery store, or doing laundry. Just move a little more & burn a few more calories. They ALL add up!!!
