I do dialysis 5 days a week. When I hook up (at my house) I log onto to SparkPeople and start learning and planning my day with the help of the site. The dialysis is soon over & I have used the time wisely and productively!
No, you did not "give up" junk food, you made a decision to eliminate unhealthy food from your diet. The difference is subtle, but important.
I know your not suppose to weigh everyday...BUT..
Do not diet--no matter what "sure fire" plan you choose, once you stop doing it, you will gain everything back unless you have learned how to eat healthy. Instead of suffering for two weeks or a month, start with baby steps, eating good food, and don't look back!
A few weeks ago I noticed my son getting up early to exercise before school. He was doing push ups, chin ups, triceps and hanging leg lifts. I was impressed and told him so and that I need to start doing that myself. Then I heard the wonderful question "Mom, you want to get up early and work out with me?". On MWF I get up with my son to do push ups, chin ups, triceps, hanging leg lifts and free weights. It is paying off and I get to spend quality time with my son. Life is Good!

I am not saving money until I pay off all debt because the ratio of money earned on money saved (interest) to money spent (finance charges) is very skewed in favor of the creditors. And the absolute best way I have learned to find money to pay off debt is to write out a monthly budget WITH my husband so we are both on the same page. It's working like a charm and we are not feeling deprived. Sort of like the lifestyle change with SparkPeople.
The best advice I got on weight loss was from my doctor last year. I hadn't lost a pound in 6 months but was running 3 times a week. She said, don't focus on the scale. Stop weighing yourself. Don't focus on the size of your clothes. Instead focus on your fitness. Instead of doing more 5K's, train for a 10K. Change your focus to living healthy and the rest will follow. I did just that. In 1 year I've lost 20 pounds AND ran the Boston Marathon!!
One of the first things I do when I start my day is fill a pitcher with 64 oz. of water. I then add 4 oz of 100% cranberry juice to it. The juice adds the hint of flavor I need to make the water inviting. When the pitcher is empty I know that I am done with my commitment for the day.
Being emotionally healthy is critical for your physical health. When your feeling overwhelmed or the cravings kick in, take the time to breathe and realize you really don't need that piece of chocolate
