Bathroom Breaks Add Up

I try to do one minute of exercise each time I get up to use the bathroom. Wall push-ups are my favorite. Wall planks (holding a plank position with abs pulled in) also work well.

While talking on phone, walk around

Whenever I use the phone I always walk around the house. I don't sit and talk. I could walk around for an hour just talking to friends and family.

Ingredients to make my smoothie healthier, yummier & more filling

I have started putting 2 Tbl. of chia seeds in my smoothies and replaced the skim milk with almond milk. The chia is full of omega 3 and helps to make me feel full & satisfied. The almond milk has less calories and is a great source of calcium, plus it adds a great flavor. Yum!

Personalize your fitness

I'm choosing to do things that I like and will want to keep doing no matter how old I am. As a kid I liked to walk, ride bike, hula hoop, and dance, so I am going back to them instead of forcing myself to do things that I don't really like to do.

Secret Kroger Savings

If you purchase a prepaid Kroger credit card, reloadable; it acts as a Kroger card and for every 1,000 you get $5 free groceries. With the card, the points do not fall off until you use it. So you can save them up (except for fuel). Another saver is to get the coupons in the mail, instead of online. They cater to you specific taste and you always get coupons for free products that way. I look forward to free frozen veggies and water. This does not apply to online coupons.

Walking and biking?

I wear my pedometer faithfully and ride a stationary bike 4 or 5 times a week. At the end of the day, I figure out how many miles I've traveled and trace the miles on a map. It's exciting to reach a new state and it keeps me going.

New Alternative for Stir-Fry

Instead of cooking up brown rice as the base to toss your stir-fry on -- go for the extra green veggie instead. Put a layer of fresh spinach on your dinner plate and top that with your stir-fry. More greens, less starch, but nicely filling.

Workout Challenges

My friend and I take turns making interval workout challenges for each other for the week. We do the workouts on our own, but check in with each other. There's nothing like knowing your friend is completing the workouts to keep you motivated.....I certainly don't want to be the one who phones it in first! We check in with each other which keeps us accountable.

I am reading a book that has helped me with my weight loss{it jumpstarted it ,actually!} and the very FIRST STEP {pun intended!} is WALKING a total of 30 minutes daily . Each day

I used to leave the gym tired, worn out and feeling like a failure because I was out of shape (I would always quit going after those thoughts started coming). I changed the voice in my head so it now says "I am healthier than I was yesterday!" For me this creates a feeling of a mini goal that I have accomplished and it always makes me feel great and motivates me to work out tomorrow to get even healthier! There are no small victories when it comes to your health!
