Every day I make a point of doing at least one kind thing for someone. It makes me feel good and I hope it makes my "victim" start their day with a smile and maybe pass on a kindness. Its usually something simple like letting someone out of the Dunkin Donuts parking lot into the line of heavy traffic when everyone else is rude and won't leave an inch between cars for fear of someone getting in front of them. Its selfish because I do it to start my day off on a positive note.
Wearing a pedometer and trying to get 10k steps - you go about your day thinking your being very active, you check the pedometer and you're no where near 10K steps. So I make a game out of it. Heating my lunch in the microwave I march in place. Cooking dinner I try to work as inefficiently as possible - one thing to the trash at a time, drying a single dish at a time and putting it away. Taking many trips up and down stairs rather than carrying all at once. Its fun and motivating!!
To prevent the after dinner sweet tooth which inevitably leads to cookies or ice cream, as soon as I get up from the table I brush my teeth, floss and mouthwash. The minty fresh flavor helps me to not even think about anything sweet, plus you know the taste of any food in a freshly brushed mouth is nasty!
