Do One Thing, Do it Well - Cynthia Heald

The author foused on this at a recent women's event highlighting simplicity. You can gracefully say no because your focus is on one important activity. You are honored to be asked, but no, not at this time. Another point, never just automatically say yes. Pray, then get back with a prayed out, thought out response.

Be 100% honest with yourself

The first indicator of eventual failure is denial even in the smallest way. Don't fudge anywhere! Even if you feel ashamed about a slip up it's far better to embrace the mistake and move on then try to ignore it. It also helps when you want to see what is working and what isn't further down the road.

Easy pretty feet!

I always liberally apply Vaseline petroleum jelly to my feet before putting on my socks and sneakers. After my run/walk, my feet are always smooth and soft. My feet always look nice in sandals or strappy shoes!

Smaller Plates

When serving food, use a smaller plate. (You can always go back for seconds.) Less food, better portion control. Since the plate looks full, you won't miss the larger portion.

Each Moment is a Gift

It's so easy to get caught up in all the things that weren't perfect - the snack you ate too much of, the workout you skipped, the bad day you had. What's done is done, so change this moment into the life you want to live. Get up and go for a walk or do a few crunches or push-ups. Prepare a healthy snack to have ready in the fridge. Let go of the past!

Between meal snacks

I used to eat oatmeal cookies for snacks. I thought maybe even the oatmeal was good for me. Once I started to diet, I realized I was snacking on 225 calories of cookie!

I started keeping a basket of grape tomatos around, and I pop one or two of them when I feel the need for a snack. Calorie difference? A grape tomato is 2 calories.

Keeping your feet healthy

During an office visit at the VA with my Dad's Podiatrist, we got onto the subject of sandals. She recommended that everyone regularly wipe down all their sandals or any shoe worn without a sock to keep from spreading bacteria or fungus. I wiped all my sandals. flip-flops and slippers with a diluted solution of water and a little bleach. I am happy to say I haven't had any 'itchy feet' or athlete's foot this summer.
