I have noticed when I have a To Do List, I will do everything on the list each day. Exercise is on the list every day. Without a list, I tend to think of things I need to do but just don't get up and get them done. As a result, I had not been exercising regularly. Now I do some sort of exercise every day since it is on my list!
I find I always want a dessert after lunch and dinner but everything is way too high in calories. I found I can have a "one bite" size piece of candy such as Milky Way or Snickers and satisfy the urge. Two pieces are less than 100 calories and I don't eat everything in site trying to satisify my urge.
While trying to watch my calorie intake, I look for new recipes. I don't like to adapt favorite recipes to low fat, low cal because I don't think they turn out well. So instead, I find new recipes that fit my dietary guidelines.
When driving long distances and needing lunch, I go to the deli and get lean ham, low fat cheese and low fat crackers. They do a great job of keeping hunger away until we can stop for a proper evening meal without wasting time and money.
