rewarding workouts

Mow the lawn and pull weeds!! you burn a bunch of calories, and you can sit down with a nice ice water afterwards and enjoy the scene of how lovely your house looks!!

also cleaning house (doing some heavy duty cleaning) is just as nice! I love feeling tired and knowing that I worked my butt off and have a nice home and working on a banging body!

water trick

ok so it's not really a trick- but I buy the 16.9 oz bottles of water- I drink one with each meal and a fourth one throughout the day. for some reason 8- 8oz glasses of h2o seems like a huge amount of water- but I'm consuming even more with my bottles and it's no issue at all to drink them, and a lot of times I end up wanting even more!! I only drink one soda a week now- That was my biggest struggle when I started with Spark.

want fries but need to be healthier?

chop potatoes into small cubes add a couple tbl of margarine and a packet of either Italian or Ranch dressing mix. make at 350 for 45 min (stir ocassionally) potatoes come out a nice golden brown, and are much healthier than french fries!

another good option is sweet potatoes with a couple tbl of margarine and a tbl of splenda brown sugar sprinkled over the top. bake the same amount of time, stir and enjoy!!

celery

Did you know that celery burns more calories to eat it than you are consuming? it's my favorite snack because it gives me a little boost. I make a snack out of 2 sticks of celery a tbl of peanut butter and raisins (called ants on a log) it's delicious and it fills you up until your next meal :)

natural pms relief

Eat some cashews, they help beat the pms, cramps bloating etc... plus they taste great- just remember they have a higher level of fat, so make sure to account for them in your diet

controlling blood sugar levels before they control you

after every meal I drink a huge glass of water and take a brisk walk, or I keep moving around the house. I do the dishes, do laundry, stay busy busy busy. exersize and water are the best ways to get sugar levels down. If you do this immediately then you dont get the sugar spikes and you usually wont have to do anything else to get levels back down

I want a salad but they take too long to chop up....

I cut up 2 heads of lettuce at the beginning of the week and put them in a freezer bag. Then I chop up my bell peppers, carrots, cucumber, cabbage and celery in another bag. This way I have a salad mixed up and ready every time I have the urge to eat something quick- now there is no excuses for me to grab cookies or ice cream- salad is just as easy to prepare :) and it doesnt go bad if you use the freezer bags to lock in the freshness

Pre-Prep meats

Freeze your meats in marinades! I buy meat in bulk, cut off the excess fat and pre chop it then I mix up my marinades myself (so that I can use less fatening items and healthier ingredients) lable the freezer bag with whatever you are mixing up then throw it in the freezer and forget it until you need it- this saves me a huge amount of time- all I have to do is pull the bag of meat out of the freezer the night before and I have flavorful ready to cook meats the next evening

Bounce Sheets

If you love to use dryer sheets in your laundry try keeping one in your pocket when you are outside, it helps keep mosquitoes away. Also if you have nats in your kitchen keep a couple out and the nats disappear. Also use a used dryer sheet in your hair to help eliminate static in your hair! I also put them in my boyfriends stinky shoes to help keep the stink away... My grandma shared these with me and I love all these tips!!
