Guacamole has a tendency for turning brown very quickly. To prevent this, press a sheet of plastic wrap onto the guacamole ensuring that no air is caught in between. By doing this your guacamole will stay green longer.
Recently saw on Dr. Oz that he recommends frozen peanut butter as a healthier alternative to ice cream.
I have also heard that mashing/blending frozen bananas is also a good "base" for making flavored ice cream without the fat.
I purchased some Cuisinart pots and was dismayed that they were getting stained. I searched on the net and learned that Bar Keeper's Friend for Cookware will wash the stains away without scratching them. I also pour some hot water on pots with tough stains and then sprinkle BKF, soak, & scrub.
I had my Omron pedometer stolen (sniffle) so I was on the fence about buying a new one or a BodyBugg and then I searched on my Droid Cell Phone Market and found "CARDIO TRACKER". This App uses GPS to track your route whether your walking/running & tracks miles, time, calories burned, & it's FREE!!!
I love seltzer/sparkling water but really don't like schlepping all those heavy bottles home. I recently purchased a SodaStream seltzer maker and it's WONDERFUL. Fresh bubbly water, no calories, no more plastic bottles, and no more breaking my back! They also kick in samples of flavors to try out.
I am a stay-at-home wife and usually don't get out much so now that I started going to yoga and zumba each morning M-F, I wear my pedometer and make sure I don't return home until I have reached 10,000 steps. It makes me feel better knowing that once I get home I have crossed off 2 fitness goals.
I'm protein obsessed...don't get enough since I stopped eating meats. When I'm on the run I usually opt for a protein bar but many don't taste very good; they are usually too dense and often don't have enough protein. These bars have 20g of protein and they are DELICIOUS! You can buy at TJ.
Creamy, great-tasting fat free milk with 34% more calcium and 37% more protein than regular milk. According to their website: "The Plus is in the Taste!". I heard about this on TV but they do not sell on the West Coast. They only sell it back East. I'm hoping that will change soon. www.skimplus.com
I love ice cream but I can't seem to just have one scoop let alone half a scoop. The solution for me was to buy the TJ Mini Mint Mouthfuls...I only eat half a recommended serving...1 sandwich and it's only 60 calories and it packs a punch. I satisfy my ice cream craving without all the fat.
I crave something sweet after dinner and to avoid the extra calories I drink Good Earth Tea. It is naturally sweet so it satisfies my craving with 0 calories. It has become my "favorite" dessert. And they sell it at Costco in packs.
