Take Your Own Advice

We are all pretty good at dispensing advice to everyone on here with a problem - but how often are we asking people to do as we say, not as we do? Take that good advice and apply it to yourself and you might be surprised that its just the pickup you were looking for...

Other Uses for C25K Podcasts

I use the week 1 C25K podcast for doing HIIT. Works great : Warmup, than 1 min VO max then 90 seconds recovery x 8. Perfect. No need to look at a clock or stopwatch.

If you feel chilly, don't crank up the heat, move your butt!

Suddenly noticing you are chilly can be a sign that your metabolism just dropped into low gear. Rev it up by moving around. It doesn't need to be a lot of moving around either. Simple tasks around the house like emptying the dishwasher or folding the laundry can be enough to get things going and warm you up. If you really want to kick it up throw in a workout DVD or go for a walk or a jog.

Find out Who Your Friends Are

It's kind of a hidden feature I think. I can't find any links to this on any of the main pages.

Exercise that Supports your Community

I volunteer several days a week at a local no-kill dog shelter. I go early in the mornings and walk dogs for 3-4 hours, non stop. Its great exercise, great for the dogs, and a huge help to an entirely volunteer run organization.

Splenda is better for you than Aspartame (Pick Diet RC over Diet Coke)

Aspartame is broken down in the body into a series of chemical compounds that have been shown to cause health risks - not the least of which is severe worsening of depression symptoms in persons already suffering from depression. Infact, a medical study on the effects of aspertame on clinical depression had to be suspended due to the severity of the observed response in test subjects. Splenda, on the other hand, is not metabolized by the body. It passes through with almost no absorbtion.

Go to Bed

Put down the laptop, log out of Spark, and go get your 8 hours. 8 hours of sleep helps to maintain healthy weight, as well as stress levels, hormone levels and general well being.

Now I am going to take my own advice. Good night y'all.
