Before you go out to a restaurant, check the nutritional facts for the menu. Some restaurants have a chart on their website. Try calling if you can't find it online. Deciding before you go out helps to reduce the worry and any post-dining regret and leaves you plenty of time to chat with your date.
When you start craving a snack, drink a cup of water. If you still have the munchies, go for the snack. Filling up on water brings you closer to your daily water goal without loading up extra calories from fruit gummies, cookies, and the like.
Spaghetti sauce doesn't just have to be plain old tomato, oregano, and garlic. If you throw a bunch of veggies in the Cuisinart and let them stew with the tomato sauce (you may have to add some ketchup--yes, ketchup--to make it more tomato-y), you can add loads more nutrition (and flavor!) to your pasta.
