Save on Gas

Whenever you can, save a little gas and instead of driving to those nearby errands, walk or better yet run. It doesn't have to be a full out get drenched in sweat run, just enough to raise your heart rate. ie., a trip to the nail salon, library, post office (even fireworks last night) can gain me anywhere from 1.5 miles to 6 miles or more (there and then back).

Peanut Flour - Not just for baking

Since TJ's discontinued their peanut flour, I have been on a quest and after a long and exhausting search, I had struck gold (or at least a light golden brown). I finally found what is the exact same nutritional make up and taste in a product which is available mailorder from Southern Grove Farms. The flour is made from partially defatted peanuts and although it can be used in baking (ie., cookies, cakes, pie crusts etc.), there are hundreds of other uses for this low fat high protein product.

Variety IS the Spice

Keep your workout routine - NOT ROUTINE. It keeps your body guessing and working harder to adjust and prevents you from becoming bored. I love to run, but have found that by including a variety of other fitness in my exercise/fitness arsenal, I appreciate my running days more and the other activities seem to be improving my running ability.

Embracing Growing Pains

Learn to appreciate the discomfort. Whether it is abstaining from unwise food choices or pushing yourself to the next level in fitness....remember that each of these small steps, though uncomfortable, result in growing closer and closer to your goals. Growth is almost always uncomfortable. I think that's why they call them "growing pains".

Simple But Not Easy

The biggest tools I have gained in staying positive are....
#1) To accept that I cannot and usually SHOULD NOT attempt to do everything that I think is a good idea at first glance. #2) Allow myself to get rest - and plenty of it. I'm not always successful, but my goal is 7-8 hours sleep a night. and #3) prioritze my goals for the day, week, month etc.and but the maximum effort into the highest ranked goals and accept my accomplishments as sufficient.

I'm not really sure if you consider this a product, but it is one of my favorite tools on my phone now, after cardio trainer. You simply input your reward cardss and purchase program cards, with or without barcod into your phone and voila - they are all on the app with information at your finger tips and no more overstuffed wallet or key ring! You can even access on your app what rewards you have earned to date or where the nearest location is etc etc etc. I LOVE THIS!!! emoticon

Get Your Breakfast Veggies

A wonderful breakfast treat this holiday season is oatmeal for breakfast - with a twist. Use only half or 2/3 the normal serving of oatmeal, with smashed banana and pumpkin (great way to get breakfast veggies) and a few grams of chopped walnuts and or raisins, prunes, etc. Then mix in pumpkin pie spice, cinnamon, calorie free sweetener or better yet, sugar free pancake syrup . MMmm, MMmm, GOOD!
