Proportion

It's important to me to look at the report at the end of the day and make sure I'm eating the right proportion of carbs/fat/protein. I also monitor my salt intake. When I stay within the ranges suggested and burn the right amount of calories, I lose weight and I feel good, not starved.

Diet Strategies

I keep boiled eggs in the fridge. I keep individually wrapped 4oz pieces of chicken breast that I have grilled in the freezer. I keep a large container of fresh chopped veggies (carrot sticks, celery, cherry tomatoes, etc.) in the fridge. These tend to come in handy when I'm in a hurry or don't know what to cook.

Success is the best motivation.

As soon as I decide to take the journey I start feeling good because I know I'm taking control of my health. Then when I start actually losing weight, that gives me more motivation. Then when I can tell a difference in the mirror or by how my clothes fit, my attitude gets even more positive. It just builds, like a snowball going down a hill.

I subscribe to a fitness magazine and when I need motivation, I go back and read them. there are all sorts of great food tips, exercise workouts and good general health info to discover and try!
