Save the pot water

When you boil eggs, save the pot of water and let it cool. Then use it to water your plants, as it is full of nutrients.

Helpful Around The House

About a year ago we noticed that our son (nearly 4) really wanted to help us clean. So instead of saying no you're too little, we encourage him to help with chores that are safe for him to help with. He helps with the garbage, the laundry (changing from washer to dryer and dryer to folding), put the silverware away from the dishwasher, and gets to hold the cord while I vacuum. Everyday he keeps his room picked up, he gets $0.25 for his piggy bank. It works for us and the house stays nice and neat.

Vase as Toilet Paper Storage

The perfect arrangement for helping toilet paper hide in plain sight. Guests don't have to root around for a new roll in your not absolutely, positively tidy vanity, and you always know when you're running low.

Ten Second Tidy...All grown up!

On the old children's television program "Big Comfy Couch" Loonette the clown always ended the show by tackling her "big mess" with a "ten second tidy". Ten minutes before I head up to bed helps keep my "big mess" under control. You'd be surprised how much can be accomplished in such a short period of time if you stay focused.

Save money on car repairs

If you get a "check engine light" take your car to one of the chain auto parts stores. They have OBDII code readers and can tell you what's wrong with your car for free. It may be a simple and cheap fix such as a leaky vacuum hose or leaky gas cap. Or, it may be an easy to replace part that you, or a handy friend, can switch out for you. It's worth a try and can save hundreds of dollars.

Baby wipes as instant stain removers (from a TV wardrobe person)

I learned this trick from the wardrobe person on "Friends': A baby wipe is an excellent instant stain remover when you spill something on yourself. It's what they use on the set on taping days if an actor spills! When a spill happens, blot the stain with a napkin, then blot with a baby wipe until the stain is gone. It works on coffee and most foodstains. I find even if I can't get it out completely, it will usually still wash out! I don't have kids but I carry a small pack of baby wipes anyway!

Use ketchup to Remove tarnish

Remove tarnish from copper and brass cookware. Squeeze ketchup onto a cloth and rub it on pots and pans. They should go back to their coppery color in minutes. Rinse with warm water and dry with a towel.

Clean your dryer lint trap with a used fabric softener sheet.

After drying your laundry, you should always empty the lint trap. Yet when you do, it tends to fly everywhere. Take a used fabric softener sheet out of the laundry and use that to collect the lint. The anti-static properties will keep it from flying everywhere and the fibers help grab all of it in one swipe.

Juicy, Flavorful Burgers!

Adding an onion and garlic puree to lean beef or turkey when making burger patties makes for juicy and flavorful burgers! Simply take the onions, garlic, and other seasonings if desired, that you would normally chop and add to the ground meat and puree in blender or food processor. Mix completely and grill or prepare as desired!
