I started this years ago with a friend who hated cleaning house. So we would clean together while on the phone. Now I use it to get my steps in. If I am on the phone I have to walk around the house or outside the time I'm on the phone. It's amazing how the time flies and so do the pounds.
I put on my favorite pants when I first started to see how far I have come. Then I put on my favorite pants that I want to get into. I can see how far I came and how close I am to getting them to fit. When those fit, I replace them with another tight pair of pants. Get rid of the old ones--so you won't have any fat clothes so you can't cheat because you will be naked.
When I buy a snack for me. I separate it into serving sizes before putting away. That way it is a treat and not a meal. I eat 2 snack a day, around 100 calories each, but no more than 200 calories. Add the snacks into the tracker right away so that you remember them when your eating.
Keeping track of the stark streaks is a good idea. After you get a streak of a week or more, you don't want to start all over so you keep making the goal.
I weighed in on the first day, and vowed not to step on the scale for another month. I knew that the change in eating was working because my clothes got bigger, but I was so surprised at the 12 lb weight loss. I only weigh myself once a month now. It is easier in the first couple of months for me. I tried doing it weekly and I got depressed when I thought it should be more. Be fair on yourself when you do weigh in. Weigh in on a good day for you.
It took years to put on the weight for what ever reason, sickness, health, stress. It doesn't matter. It won't come off overnight. It takes time to heal the body and repair the damage, it is bettter to go at it slow and easy so that you can keep it off and remember that you don't want this happen again, ever.
I make 1 or 2 days my days to cook for the week. It takes just as long to cook oatmeal for one day as for the whole week. I then divide it into serving size containers and just 45 seconds in the microwave and I have breakfast. Can do this with everything. Some weeks I cook several times a week and freeze for a sick day when I don't have the strength to make toast. (NOT a joke)
On a day that I eat more than I wanted I just view this as the day that I am resetting my brain and tricking it into loosing. They say that you should do this a least one or two days a week to make sure your body doesn't go into starvation mode.
When I am just sitting and relaxing, I look up recipes and then read all the comments and add them to my planner. I have found that my husband loves the idea that I am making new dishes and had no clue that they were healthier. I never tried substituting applesauce for oil before. I tried it with pumpkin bread. WOW that was awesome. Try new things and healthier recipes. We never eat out any more because I can make most of my favorite recipe now at home and I know what is really in them
When you can't workout for the day because of errands or you just don't feel like it. Remember that everything you have to do is burning calories, even bathing is burning calories. Shopping, cooking, putting away groceries burning calories. If I am sitting and watching a movie I fidget, get up at the commercials and walk to the kitchen and back, still burning calories. Even cleaning the bathroom, yuck, burning calories.
