I know it sounds ridiculous but when I'm hitting that moment where I'm about to decide to quit running, but I'm short of the goal I've set, I tell myself, "Okay. Just one more minute" or "Just 50 more strides" or "just finish this lap". Cutting the goal down somehow gives me the energy to push through... but when I get there, I keep going! The little fib is enough to trick me into getting through "the suck" so I can achieve what I set out to do!
We all have bad days and being alone to deal with the stress has often sent me straight to the kitchen for some "comfort". But that just leads to guilt and shame afterwards! Now, I've got a playlist on my computer of songs that get me moving... and I groove around in my livingroom! I get moving, I get my mind in a different place... and it's really hard to be angsty and broody when I'm being a big goof. Try it next time!
