Take the time to chew your food.

Many times I shove food in my mouth and swallow before tasting the food. I am trying to learn to slow down and chew and taste the foods. I find sometimes I don't even care for the taste of foods that I have been eating, and sometimes over eating with out thinking about it. And worse it is full of fat or sugar. So remember to chew food well and taste the flavors. It also lets the brain have time to say enough. It helps to make me more satisfied with my treats.

With out goals we are just wondering aimlessly

We need to set attainable goals. Then we need to keep focused on our goals to be able to reach them.
Find a way to remind yourself of that goal every day, or more often if needed.
Have a reward waiting for you when you meet goal, it will help you keep going. emoticon

Start with short term goal.

I had diet therapy and he always said 10 days. Go strict for 10 days to see how your body feels. When I would be tempted to cheat, I would say I could have it after the 10 days. It was long enough to build a good habit, and let me know my body feels better eating healthy (more energy, less pain)

I learn most when I teach or encourage others.

I find that I learn so much when I teach others. I dig in to know the facts and it helps me learn more.
I also know if I am encouraging others it makes me feel energized and ready to keep going. So grab a friend by the hand and keep moving in the right direction. We can make a difference.

Never quit learning, Keeps me moving in right direction

I have done diet therapy for over 14 years now. Long enough that it should be a pro, but if I keep reading books and information about the diet helps me to stay motivated and it is amazing all the good things I learn.

I was thinking I was having a great breakfast for travel. 1/2 c raw oatmeal, 1/4 c. raisins, about 80 pumpkin seeds.
It was 400 cal. 75 cabs, 9 fats, and 12 protein. It is nice because it is balanced and I snacked on it all am. But have to be cautions of cal count

Ask yourself "What is weighing you down?"

I find when I give up on my diet or exercise, it is because something else is bothering me emotionally, and getting me down.
I need to look at what is getting me down so that I can take that weight off my shoulder and move on. It is hard to run a marathon with a bunch of bricks on your shoulders

deep cleaning

I take every thing out of the area I am cleaning (closet, desk etc.) then I wipe down the area so it is nice and clean. I start by putting back the most important items first. I go through every item. It is either save, garbage, or give away. It is all nice organized and clean when finished

make small changes so you don't get discouraged

Make small changes, and once you start if you want to do more go for it. It helps build up consistency And remember for every step in the positive healthy way it is one less step in the unhealthy lifestyle. emoticon Every step counts even if they are small.
