Be truthful with yourself and look at your expectations. Are you trying to look like a Victoria's Secret model? Is this a realistic goal for yourself? We often set the bar too high for ourselves and then get depressed and want to give up when we don't live up to our own expectations. Focus on being healthy and comfortable. Happiness far outweighs vanity.
When you discover how many calories are in certain foods you didn't think were that calorific, you are first in shock, then disappointed. You can still eat these foods, just in smaller quantities. Otherwise, you can find healthy substitutions in order to stay within your allowed daily calories, especially at the end of the day. It forces you to change your eating habits. 14 potato chips for 150 calories or a juicy plum for 30? Fat and little fiber and vitamins, or no fat with fiber and vitamins?
