I use a qtip to swab the inside of each nostril with hydrogen peroxide every day... that and I take Vitamin C everyday, haven't been sick in over 2 years (not even a cold, and I live in Maine!!)
We used to plop ourselves down infront of the television after dinner, now we go for a half hour leisure stroll with the dog. It really makes it feel like the dinner doesn't sit so heavily with you.
I really find that housework is a great weight loss tool. For one you're moving I find that scrubbing sweeping vacuuming really get the heart rate up, plus I do tons of squats while cleaning the bottom of the toilet, dusting bottom shelves, etc.
