Of all of the tips I learned while losing weight, drinking my water at room temp was the most life-changing for me! I had been sipping my cold water all day until I discovered (learned from a seasoned dieter) that if I drink my water at room temp I could gulp it down in seconds. 2 litres of water has been a minimum of water intake for me since then...for the last 2 years...and it is EASY.
Jillian Michaels said on the Biggest Loser to vary your caloric intake: eat on the low end for two days, eat in the middle range for three days, eat on the high end (even going a little over) on two days. This keeps your body guessing. I did this all last week and lost 3.5 lbs!
You know when you really want something sweet, and you really can't stop it, even when you've been doing so well?!
I've started taking a photo of everything I eat. I review at the end of the day. If you have to have a picture of it, you might think twice before eating it! This is a great way to see what I'm actually eating over the course of a day. I can also snap a quick photo if it's something I don't have time to log. Just log it later. I'm going to do this for a week at least to see if it keeps me mindful of what and how much I'm eating and NOT overeating.
NOW IS THE TIME TO JUST DO IT!!
When I slip up, it's because I've been gradually adding more carbs back into my diet, which lead to more (bad) carb cravings. I start feeling out of control. When I increase my protein again, suddenly it doesn't take nearly as much effort to stay on track.
When I started tracking my weight on SparkPeople last August, I bought a couple of packs of sticky numbers at the office supplies store. I stuck my weight in numbers that day on the tiles in my kitchen. Every time I weigh myself now, I stick the figures under the ones from the time before. 6 months on 1 have a long column of figures documenting my weight loss of nearly 9 kilos. When I feel indecisive about food choices, I look at those little sticky numbers and feel a surge of pride and joy!
