So I bought a new pedometer and I just couldn't get it to register right on my waist. I don't wear lace up shoes every day so I can't tie it on to my shoe, I needed another solution. I pulled out a ribbon I had and tied it to the pedometer around the clip hinge. I then clipped it to the top of my sock and wrapped the ribbon around my leg tightly enough not to fall off and tied it there. It registers great now!
Love chocolate like me, treat that holiday candy like the blessing it is. Having a craving take one piece and savor it, break a Hershey's mini into two pieces and let it just melt in your mouth. Bonus if you only eat one or two pieces a day like this they'll last you for months, well if you have as much in your house as we do :)
I wear my pedometer daily and make my best effort to get in my 10000 steps. Weekends are especially difficult, but now I have a little trick. I do my laundry on weekends, as I fold or hang clothes I immediately put mine away and walk my son's to his room (they stay on his bed until he puts them away) and lay hubby's on his side of the bed, but walking to do all that means the steps really add up. Maybe not the most time efficient but keeps me active :)
Since my son was about a year old we've started changing our clocks on the Fri of DST weekends, it gives us all day Sat AND Sun to get used to the time change, helpful esp in the spring when you have to get up an hour earlier.
My son loves to help me workout. So I use him to sit on my feet while I do crunches, he alternates laying under me or on my back when I do the plank (the added weight really works it harder), and I do a leg press using him as the weight, he thinks he's flying. Anytime you can get your kids involved becomes playtime for you both.
When I have a dessert, esp ice cream I scoop out 2 servings. Then I share with my son. I eat a bite then give him one. I scoop slightly larger bites for him (he's so much more active than I am, even with me working out).
I love my dessert. My new secret is to have a sugar free Fudgsicle for 40 calories or Popsicle (the original, in the yellow box) for 15 calories. Because they're frozen it takes longer to eat. I can savor more easily and they fit into my calorie range easily.
Have a craving, chew a piece of gum. I personally prefer strong mint flavored gum, Trident White to be exact, which gives the added bonus of whitening my teeth. It's also a great way to deal with those times when you want to stress eat.
