When I moved, I had a ton of books that I really didn't need anymore, but still wanted new ones. I found a site- swap.com, where I can list the books I have and the books I want and it sets up a trade between members. All you do is pay for shipping. I like it a lot. I've gotten some things I really wanted, while getting rid of some books I no onger had interest in.
I found a lotion that I really love the smell of, but it is strong and rather expensive, so to tone it down a bit and to save money, I mix it with equal amounts of a decent unscented lotion. I still smell great without overpowering anyone and it lasts twice as long.
Got good condition books( DVD's, Video games, CD's) you just don't want anymore? Sign up for a free account at swap.com and you can trade something you have for something you want. You only pay for shipping. A great way to reduce what you buy and recycle what you have, organize your bookshelf and get a great new read (or movie) at the same time.
When I'm feeling especially bad and have no motivation to do right by me, I find a way to do right by someone else. Right now, I know that there is a huge need for help in the Pakistani flood relief efforts (no I'm not Pakistani by the way), by helping them, I feel better about myself, and suddenly, I have the motivation to do the things that are good for me.
A great way to relax? floating in the hot tub. Don't turn it up all the way, just warm enough to feel like a warm bath, get in to one of the "seat" areas, and lay back, close your eyes, let your feet float and relax. The built in seat keeps you from sinking and drowning, but you can still feel buoyed and "weightless". I find it a great way to totally relax.
I have trouble getting to sleep early enough at night to get my needed sleep, so I take a melatonin supplement 20 minutes before I need to go to sleep. Helps me fall asleep faster and stay asleep, and it is non-addictive
For birthdays and holidays I make my own wrapping paper with some stamps, earth-friendly ink and recycled light colored packing paper. A great way to personalize the gifts, and a great way to get kids involved in both recycling and gift giving :)
On sunday nights, while cooking that nights meal, I also cook a healthy vegetarian meal for the week's lunches. I portion it out when cool, and have a ready to grab-and-go lunch that I like and is healthy for me. Plus the added benefit of making sure I get some vegetarian meals added to my diet.
The plastic bags that bread comes in are easy to reuse. I keep a clean one by my sewing area to collect all the usable scraps and another for the too small to sew with pieces, saved for stuffing later. I also like to reuse them to pack my lunches, especially for those possibly leaky liquids.
