If you're having a family portrait taken over the holidays, wearing black and darker solid colors will actually make you appear slimmer. Also, don't stand facing straight to the camera, turn your body slightly and you instantly lost a few more pounds! You can also lean a bit toward the camera with your weight on your front foot - what's farther away from the camera will appear smaller. But MOST importantly, DON'T WAIT TO LOSE THE WEIGHT to have your family photo taken! Do it now!
When cooking, many of us tend to taste the progress as we're adding spices and other ingredients. Those "tastes" can add up to a lot of calories, especially when cooking a big dinner like Thanksgiving! Keep a jar near the stove and every time you catch yourself "tasting", add an equal amount to the jar. You may be surprised at how much your jar adds up!
Don't look at your primary goal - sometimes it can seem overwhelming to think about it. Break your big goal into smaller goals and celebrate each accomplishment until you reach your primary goal. I bought myself a small patchwork stuffed elephant to remind me that the only way I can eat this elephant is one bite at a time! Make the elephant your new "mascot" to remind you to look at the small accomplishments!
