I'm fortunate enough to work at a company that has desks that raise up, so most of the day I stand while I'm at work. Also, I will sometimes march in place while I'm typing away at my computer. Not a huge calorie burner of course, but at least it gets my circulation revved up and I get some extra steps in.
It may sound strange coming from an adult, but don't be afraid of the baby food aisle! The Gerber Graduates for toddlers line has low calorie finger/snack foods for kids, but grown-ups can eat them, too. There are healthy cereal and fruit bars and the apple cinnamon grain puffs are great mixed into greek yogurt!
Don't forget about plain old "boring" Cheerios! They taste great with milk and a sprinkle of Splenda (obviously - it's cereal after all...), mixed into flavored yogurt or plain yogurt and a dash of cinnamon, or just eaten plain when you're craving a crunchy snack. At 100 calories for a cup (that's really a LOT of them), they can easily fit into a day's calorie allowance. There's a reason that they've been around so long - because they're awesome!
If you have a Target near you, I'd like to recommend the Archer Farms Fruit Bars. The Pomegranate Raspberry ones have only 65 calories each. There are other flavors, too like Peach Mango and Strawberry Banana - They're a little higher in calories - 110 cals each - which still isn't too bad for a snack. They're also low in sodium and fat and have 2g fiber.
On many days I purposely leave something I need during the workday like my lunch, my sweater (it gets really cold in our office!) or my phone in my car so that I have to make an extra trip to get it - I work on the 5th floor of an office building, so I sneak in an extra 5 flights of stairs, too.
Focus on what you're doing right now... If you're working out, don't think about the project you have to get done at work. If you're at work, don't think about the grocery shopping you still need to get done. If you're eating dinner, don't think about how you didn't get time to work your abs that morning. If you don't focus on NOW, you'll always feel like you're behind and can't get caught up. You can waste a lot of precious energy by not giving all your attention to the moment.
Marriage isn't always easy, and I think of this quote during the hard times ... "In every marriage more than a week old, there are grounds for divorce. The trick is to find, and continue to find, grounds for marriage." ~Robert Anderson, Solitaire & Double Solitaire. Be thankful for what you have because the grass is not always greener on the other side!
I keep a list and pictures of the foods that tempt me the most along with their nutrition info and how long it would take me to burn off the food. For example:
It has been fairly well hyped that when Daylight Saving Time rolls around, you should change all the batteries in your smoke detector. We do this, but I also use this "reminder" for a couple other things - 1) To go through the medicine cabinet, the freezer, and the pantry to look for expired items; and 2) to go through our closets and get rid of things that don't fit or that we just don't wear anymore.
