Save money, flavor your own water!

I'm not a big water drinker. The only way I'd drink it was if it came flavored like Vitamin water. I learned that adding 1 oz of cranberry juice to 7 oz of water or adding a slice of citrus (lemon, lime, orange, grapefruit, etc) tastes just as good & saves money! emoticon emoticon emoticon

Shop While You Drop and Support a Charity

I like to dress for the body I have, not the body I had. So it's important to be able to buy new clothes as I change sizes. But that can also be really expensive.

My solution is to shop at resale stores. My favorite spot is a Christian non-profit organization that raises money from selling donated items to be able to offer social services in my community. I get incredible bargains on quality, used clothing in my size while also supporting this awesome organization.

Get Kindle books free

Some Kindle books are free on amazon.com and other sites. In addition, they are putting many in public libraries where you check them out online and then return them. The best thing is that you don't have to own a Kindle - you can use your PC or smartphone to read them.

Saving

Our paychecks are direct deposited into our bank accounts. I've set-up small automatic withdrawals into our savings account every time we get paid. Now we have a nice little nest egg to fall back on for emergency or big bills.

Meal Plans

Writing and tweaking suggested meal plans and then writing my grocery list only for those items.
By sticking to the plan it helps by not wasting as much food.
If a leftover has not been eaten in 3 days it gets labeled frozen and put on the "list" of quick thaw leftovers.

Re-do fitted sheets that no longer fit newer mattresses

I had a stash of fitted sheets that no longer fit the newer mattresses. The pockets were too small.
But I sewed them up into pillowcases, which are a cinch to make. I often change pillowcases more often than the sheets, so this works well for me.

Free samples

I satisfy my shopping habit by applying for tons of free samples. I use sweetfreestuff.com because there arent any of those annoying "sign up for all these free offers to get your free sample!" sites. I get free samples in my mailbox (and most of them come with coupons). I get cool stuff everyday, and it makes me not want to go shopping!

Replant the rooted ends from scallions.

One day while prepping store bought scallions for a meal I decided to save the rooted ends I had just cut off.
Later, I stuck them in the soil out in my garden and then proceeded to forget all about them.
It had to have been more than a week or so before I walked by and lo and behold new scallions were growing from those rooted ends. WooHoo!
I replanted all the ends from two bunches of scallions and jump started the season.
Talk about getting a bang for the 'bunch'. LOL

Grocery Coupons

I hit the following websites weekly to stock up on electronic coupons for grocery shopping. For some, you can load them directly onto your savings card (paperless!), and others you can print out and take with you. The paperless ones automatically redeem at checkout.

Live Simple

Don't buy what you don't really need. Having less is very freeing. Over consumption and over production is ruining our bodies minds and environment. Less can be more. When you see what clothes you live on while on vacation (clothes for work aside) I always come home and donate a bunch of things. You see what you really can live on, update yes, but, one in one out. Help others by donating your clothes.
