Portioned lunches

Every week I use 1 cup and 2 cup glass bowls with lids to set up lunches and snacks for the week. When I cook dinner I do not put the leftovers in a big bowl to be forgotten, I measure an appropriate lunch time amount and put in a glass bowl with a strong sealed lid.

Maintaining your goal weight

I spoke with a woman who had lost weight & maintained for 30 years. She told me her secret was 5 pounds! Her goal was 115 so she lost down to 110. She then has 5 pounds to work with. If she gains a couple of pounds, she doesn't get concerned. When she gains 5, she works to lose that 5 by eating healthier then she had been. She's been successful doing this for 30 years!

You are not your genes

It is so easy to look at family gatherings and think "I can never be thin - look at my family!" Blaming my weight on my genes is just an excuse not a reason. So when I look at my family I look at them with love and then resolve not to let myself be lulled into thinking that I can't determine my own fate. Just 'cause your body is pre-programmed to WANT to eat potato salad all afternoon doesn't mean you have to do it!

Workouts Do Not Always Happen in Workout Clothes...

When I know that I'm feeling too beat to exercise when I get home, I take a different bus after leaving work - the bus that drops me off six tenths of a mile away from my house instead of 1 block. This way, I'm getting in some great exercise, but it's just part of my commute home.

Making "Something" out "Nothing"

Hubby and I started out our lifetime together living on $100 a week and during times of "more" and "less" I've stuck to this principle....

Make a new outfit out of at least one old thing in the closet...

Make a new meal out of leftovers and surprise yourself and others....(and never be able to recreate it again)...

Do sign up for frugal blogsites...they have freebies, coupons etc....go for it!

A Goal Is Not Always Meant To Be Reached...

"A goal is not always meant to be reached; it often serves simply as something to aim at." - Bruce Lee

procrastinating

When I have a chore I keep putting off I set the buzzer and make a deal with myself to work on it for 20 minutes. I usually end up finishing the chore and then I'm motivated to get other things done.

Reach Out and let others know what is going on

It had been my tendency to hide when things were not going well and then feel isolated and alone. Now with the support of my SP teams, I reach out to others to help me get through the tough times. We all have rough patches, don't let guilt, shame or false pride get in the way of you health!!!
