Best friend

My best friend now is Balsamic vinegar. Lots of flavor and hardly any calories or sodium. Sooo versatile.

Feta,Feta, and more Feta

Since giving up wheat products I found a new best friend, Feta cheese. It adds a punch to salads and omelettes, and adds to my calcium intake, it is also fairly low in calories and sodium for the small amount you need for a big flavor boost.

spice up your salads

Tired of the same old salad for lunch? When you make your usual salad Add 3 bean salad ,comes in a jar, and sprinkle feta cheese crumbles on top. This gives a whole new flavor to the same old bowl of tossed salad and adds a little calcium,plus ups the veggie total for the day.

Cooking for 1- Using up Leftovers

I made a pot of thick 3 bean chili and had so much leftover.
The next day I added some ground turkey and served it over a salad . I didn't need any dressing and it was a nice change.
I have also added pasta to make a different tasting goulash meal.

Easy inside walking tip

I'm always watching T.V. when I should be workingout, I found if I get up the last 15 min. of the show at the climax or like when Rachel Ray cooks her daily meal, I walk in place doing my favorite walk it out moves while concentrating on the plot of the show and I have easily done a workout and usually continue on for an extra 10 or 15 minuets. I do this a couple of times throughout the day,

Snacking on popcorn

I like to pop my own popcorn . 3 Tlbsp. in a paper bag in the microwave ,saves money and I can add the toppings I choose to make it much healthier than prepackage choices.

keeping busy

I have found the best way for me to stay on track is to keep myself busy. When I am not focused on anything specific I turn to food and mindless eating, so keeping my mind and hands focused on a task is my solution.

I start the day with an egg white omelette filled with veggies, it's low calorie and gets me closer to my 6 a day count. It also keeps me well satisfied till noon.

Take control

In this stressing economy it is easy to get depressed . Don't give up , take control and list everything you are worried about ,from most important to least and tackle them one by one.Open all bills mark on a calander the due dates of each bill,and throw out the junk mail. Call credit card companies to explain a hardship and you can usually get a lower rate or late charges removed. Being organized helps put things into perspective.
